It's been a while since anything from Sony Ericsson has made me go 'Wow!'. That all changed today, with the leak of images of the first Ericsson Android handset, codenamed “Rachael”. All rumors we have of the handset are unconfirmed, but the pictures are real and we can tell a few things from those.
First of all, the Rachael has a nice big touchscreen and an extremely thin profile. It's branded as an Xperia and it's got a camera that Boy Genius says is 8 megapixels. Also rumored is auto-focus for the camera, a 3.5mm audio jack, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, 3D graphics, and a bangin' Qualcomm 1GHz processor.
If that's all true, the Rachael is shaping up to be one hell of a smartphone. A 1Ghz processor will set it head-and-shoulders above pretty much anything on the market in terms of processing power. As long as it ends up having a decent complement of RAM, the Rachael could end up being the fastest smartphone out there. Waiting for more info on this one is going to be painful.
