We've got some belated bad news for you iPhone users. Apparently the 3.0 update brought some unpleasant changes with it that may or may not have been intentional. 9To5Mac is reporting that the new update has stopped all 3rd party video cables from working on the iPod Touch or any models of iPhone.
Apple-made video cables still work fine apparently, which makes me think that this change may very well have been intentional. Apple also altered the way playing a video with Apple cables works. When you played video through a cable, it used to play on both the device and the TV. Now the device just displays album art.
It's been reported that downgrading to 2.2 for the Touch will allow you to keep using your old third party cables. This is sadly not an easy option for owners of an iPhone. If you're really pissed, I'd suggest emailing Apple and trying to get an answer for this.
