Going from high school to college can be a big change for many students. Technology can make learning in college easier for many and some schools are more tech friendly than others. Abilene Christian University (ACU) has announced a new high tech learning plan that has it giving incoming freshmen students the iPhone 3GS as a mobile learning platform.
The smartphone was handed out to students to begin using this summer and a second implementation phase is set to continue. The iPhone and iPod touch were handed out to all incoming freshmen to allow the school to integrate technology in and out of the classroom.
The mobile devices offer access to the ACU mobile portal that allows students and professors to access the campus calendars, course documents, and media. The devices are also used for in class surveys and polls.
