The Sony Vaio P-series hasn't been an overwhelming seller. Part of that may be due to the annoying 90 second boot time, but a lot of it is probably because of the $1000+ price tag. That's a ridiculous amount to charge for what amounts to an extra-tiny netbook. You could buy two or three Asus or HP machines for the cost of the P, and you wouldn't lose out any on performance.
Of course, performance is valued differently by different people. The Vaio P is a gorgeous little netbook, and it's just about small enough to fit into cargo pants. It's extra portable, and it's pretty enough to show off to all the poor schlubs around you who went with less ostentatious machine. If you're the type of person who is willing to pay a little (read; a lot) more for a sexier product, I've got some good news for you.
Sony will be releasing an addition to the P series in October. This P 2 should have a vastly improved boot-up time. We know nothing else about this newest Sony netbook, but more information should be coming through the grapevine presently.
