Time magazine reports that Fujifilm is set to launch the world's first 3D digital camera later this year. The cam will likely be called the FinePix Real 3D system. The camera has dual lenses and a 10MP resolution.
The dual lenses are spaced about as far apart as human eyes. The camera takes the images and the system is capable of presenting them for viewing without needing special glasses, with a caveat.
The 3D images have to be printed using a special printing process that overlays the image with a film that acts like 3D glasses or they can be viewed on a special 8-inch LCD picture frame. The camera is expected to debut in the US in September at about $600. The picture frame will be a few hundred extra dollars and photos will cost under $5 each to print.
