Ricoh isn’t a name that you think of when someone says digital camera. The company is more known for office printers and fax machines than digital cameras. The company has announced a newly updated GPS-ready digital camera called the 500SE.
The camera has been updated with an SE-2 GPS module that is small, power-efficient, and stored inside the cameras rugged housing. The 500SE camera uses a modular approach that allows the technology to be updated when new offerings are available.
The new GPS modules for the camera are the SE-2g and the SE-2c. The difference is that the 2g is GPS only while the 2c offers GPS and a 3-axis compass for directional information. The GPS modules sell for $169 for the 2G and $399 for the 2c.
