The fraternal twin brother of the Nokia Surge, the Slide, has been announced for a European release. The 6760 Slide is a messaging phone with a full QWERTY keyboard, 2.4” QVGA screen, 3.2 megapixel camera, aGPS, and up to 8 GB of storage with an SSD card (it comes with a 2 GB card). The battery gives you five hours of call time and 500 hours of standby.
Nokia's newest mobile is pretty much a pure social networking phone. It's got Google Talk and Windows Live messenger plus quick access to Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. While the Slide is essentially a version of the Nokia Surge the two phones are not identical. The Slide has a better camera, and a slightly better battery life.
While the Slide is definitely a better phone, Europeans are going to pay for that improved functionality. The 6760 goes on sale in Q3 of 2009 for 199 euros, and that's before any subsidies, rebates, or taxes get into it. You'll be able to choose between black, red, and white.
