A new set of leaked photographs of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 just hit the Internet. The X2, also known as the Vulcan, has been expected for a while now. Boy Genius believes that the recent spate of new pictures leaking out means that this new smartphone is close to release. While it's not nearly as sexy as the Rachael, the Vulcan has some pretty impressive specs.
First off, it packs an 8.1 megapixel camera with auto-focus and 30 FPS VGA video capture. It's got a 3.5” WVGA OLED screen (which gives me hope that the Rachael, Sony's next Xperia, will pack an OLED as well), plus GPS, an accelerometer, and a faster processor than the X1. The Vulcan has a respectable 512 MB of RAM and runs Windows Mobile 6.5. Topping everything off is a sliding QWERTY keyboard.
We don't have price or release date information out yet, but expect to hear something within the next week or two. Ericsson's gone all out on the Vulcan, and it definitely represents a substantial leap forward from the underwhelming Xperia X1.
