In May the news about Porsche and Volkswagen merging broke but then a dramatic battle between the owner families and managers raged that has ended with the ousting of Porsche CEO Wiedeking.
It all started when Porsche tried to acquire Volkswagen with some tricky investment poker that went awry because of the economic crisis.

Now the proud Porsche firm becomes just another label under the Volkswagen umbrella like Audi, Bentley, Bugatti or Lamborghini. I am not sure how much this merger will hurt the image of Porsche. Do Lamborghini drivers feel like they are driving a Volkswagen? I do not think so. Most likely the employees of Porsche will have the bigger identity crisis than the Porsche customers.
