It's no secret that Microsoft isn't exactly the most...innovative of corporations. Most of their big product lines today were made in response to big devices from other companies. But, earlier this month, Redmond decided to take things a step further by building a slew of new Microsoft Stores to compete with their arch-rival Apple's own stores.
Now, a PowerPoint presentation has been leaked to Gizmodo that gives us a detailed look at what these new Microsoft stores will be like. Apparently their main focuses will be Windows 7, Xbox, PCTV, Surface, and Windows Mobile. Microsoft's stolen the Genius Bar concept from Apple, and there will be an 'Answers' or 'Guru' bar for you to get help from.
Microsoft's stores will apparently go beyond being retail outlets and cross over into LAN Center-esque territory. An enormous digital screen will wrap around the entire store, surface demos will abound, and there may even be gaming areas. You'll be able to pay to have your birthday party thrown at the Microsoft store, so it is likely there will be substantial gaming capacity.
This is definitely an interesting look at the concept from Microsoft. The only way they could make this better is by keeping beers on tap and staying open all night. But I suppose that's just a little too much to ask for.
