LG announced today that it is the first TV maker to bring on-demand movies from VUDU to broadband connected HDTVs. The movies form VUDU will be available on the LG LH50 1080p LCD TV and the PS80 Plasma 1080p series with NetCast Entertainment Access starting next month.
The VUDU service lets users buy or rent from a list of TV and movies with 2000 of the offerings in HD resolution. The HDX format form VUDU offers 5.1 surround sound and full 1080p resolution. The viewing experience is described as near instant.
Of course, that is what Apple TV said too and often with my Internet connection in the real world, there are delays of an hour or more while the film downloads. The TVs offering the service have to be connected to a network through an Ethernet port.
