If you've been looking to try out a CULV this Fall, you might not need to look any further than Lenovo's new IdeaPad line of CULV notebooks. So far the only model out is the U350, a 13.3” machine that comes with a variety of processor options and an integrated optical drive. If you're looking for something a little bigger though, Lenovo's just started to advertise their 14” U450p.
We don't know anything other than size about the U450p, but there are a few things we can make an educated guess about thanks to its little brother. The U350 comes with your choice of either a 1.2 Ghz Celeron processor, a 1.3 Ghz Pentium dual-core, or a 1.4 Ghz Core 2 Solo. Processor options will more than likely be the same for both machines.
The U350 comes stock with a 4 cell battery, although you can upgrade to an 8 cell one that Lenovo claims gives the CULV ten hours of battery life. That'll likely go down a bit for the U450p due to the extra monitor size.
I really like what Lenovo's doing to the CULV line-up. They're bringing in machines that actually have a solid bit of horsepower behind them, and giving customers room to customize. The U350 itself can range from 1 to 8 GB of RAM, and possible hard drive sizes of 250, 320, and 500 GB. If the U450p proves to be as scalable, I might just end up buying one myself.
