If you had any doubts that Wii Sports Resort was going to be a hit, you can lay those doubts to rest. Nintendo has announced that it has sold 500,000 units of the game since it launched on July 26th through August 3rd in the U.S. alone.
The game has a collection of 12 resort-themed games and requires the Wii Motion Plus accessory to play. Considering that the game sold that many copies and only comes with one Motion Plus accessory, I am betting that the sales of the Motion Plus accessory spiked as well.
Nintendo says that it sold roughly one copy of Sports Resort every 1.5 seconds since it launched in the US. The game sells for $49.99 and additional Motion Plus accessories are $19.99. Nintendo continues to be on a roll.
