A US District Judge has denied motion to dismiss brought by EA and allowed a class-action lawsuit to move forward against EA over its practices for football video games. The allegations core to the case claim that EA unlawfully and anticompetitivly monopolized the football game market.

The suit claims that EA established agreements with the NFL, NFL Players Union, Arena Football League, and the NCAA to drive competition out of the market for football video games. The agreement allegedly allowed EA to increase the price of its flagship Madden NFL title 70% from $29.99 to $49.99.

The suit claims that it is EA's monopolization of the market that allows it to charge as much as $59.95 for a football game in today's market. EA tried to buy Take Two Interactive for $2 billion only two weeks after signing the extension to the agreements allowing it the exclusive rights to NFL and NCAA football games.
