The 3.0 update for the Facebook iPhone application could be out as early as today. Gizmodo points out some interesting screenshots from the app store that could hint to an imminent launch. While the images mark the version number as 2.5, they also contain references to features being added in the 3.0 update.

Facebook 3.0 is set to add event management and photo albums to the popular iPhone app. Push notification, which is possible on the iPhone as of the 3.0 firmware update, will not be making an appearance in 3.0, but we should expect it come 3.1 or shortly thereafter. The nicest new feature in 3.0 has to be the fact that messages which get interrupted by an incoming phone call will be restored as soon as you cancel the call. Congratulations, iPhone customers; you have one less annoyance to worry about.
