We still have a few more weeks to wait before Apple reveals iTunes 9 during their big music event. This new version of iTunes is rumored to be chock full of integrated social networking applications that allow users to do things like share music playlists over Facebook. Thanks to Boy Genius we actually have several snapshots of the new version of iTunes in action.
First off, these snapshots show the Facebook integration very clearly. It looks like sharing a playlist to your wall puts an iTunes link there. This link presumably sends users either to a shared playlist or some sort of sample playlist. It also appears that purchasing new songs adds a link to the song on your Facebook wall, informing your friends that you've just upgraded your library. Hopefully there will be a way to turn this off for people who might not want every detail of their music playlist leaking out.
So far, iTunes 9 looks pretty sweet. Early September (possibly the 9th) is when Apple will host its big unveiling, so we don't have long to wait now. September is already shaping up to be a wonderful month for music geeks. We've got the release of iTunes 9, the next generation of iPods, and Microsoft's Zune HD to look forward to. Let the good times roll.
