T-Mobile USA Launches 'Where' App

Are you a T-Mobile customer? Do you have a G1, BlackBerry Curve 8520, Samsung Memoir, or Samsung Behold? If so, you're now eligible to download the latest big app to hit T-Mobile's web2go service.
It's called 'Where', and it seems to be a cross between an AR application, Google maps, and a tour guide. Developed by uLocate communications, the Where app is supposed to help users, "find the people, places, and things around them". Where gives you local weather, news, restaurant reviews, and similar data that changes based on your location. It claims to be able to pinpoint the cheapest gas in your area, as well as give details on things like local movie showtimes.
Where sounds like a very useful app for frequent travellers. It comes with the Where Wall, a social networking tool designed to help connect Where users together. Where isn't free, however: it costs a $2.99/mo subscription. For more information, you can go to www.where.com/t-mobile/.
I haven't tried Where for myself, but I'm curious to see how it stacks up against the AR apps currently out there. All of the information Where claims to provide is fairly easy to find with basic Internet searches. All the service does is make those searches for you and collate the information together into one tight package. That's a useful service, but it's not going to be worth a monthly fee for everyone.
