Today, Steve Jobs is back in the saddle and making his first public appearance since his liver surgery earlier this summer. Jobs began the Apple Music event by thanking his organ donor, and urging people all across the U.S. to do the same.
The first big announcement today was the coming of iPhone OS 3.1. According to Jobs (via Ars Technica's liveblog') OS 3.1 will apply New Genius technology to Apps. Jobs stated that the same technology that generates playlists based on your favorite songs, will also be applied to the App Store. Your iPhone will now recommend you apps based on the apps you already own.
Steve also announced 30,000 new ringtones from all four major music labels. These ringtones will cost $1.29 a piece. iTunes will feature free previews and one-click purchasing. Sounds pretty great to me. OS 3.1 will be available today, in the iTunes store.Update: iPhone OS 3.1 Update Available Now.Posted on Wed, 9 Sep 2009 12:13:14 CDT | by Robert Evans
