The Twist is definitely one of the stranger mobile phones that's come out. Personally, I find it's bizarre, square, rotating face and hidden QWERTY keyboard to look kind of awesome. The Twist seems to generate either adoration, or bitter hatred. Like the President's healthcare plan, this phone is one of those controversial topics you'd better steer away from at fancy dinner parties. (What do you mean no one discusses phones at your fancy dinner parties?)
According to Boy Genius the Twist will be coming to the Verizon Wireless network on Sunday, Sept. 13th. It will cost $99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a 2-year contract. Please note; the Twist is available for online purchase on the 13th, but won't be out in VZW stores until Sept. 21st.
In terms of hardware, the Twist is a pretty solid messaging/social media phone. It has a 3.0 MP camera/camcorder with flash and autofocus, VZ Navigator, V Cast music with Rhapsody, visual voice mail, mobile broadband connect, and corporate email. It also comes with a "habitat mode", which allows you to set up a unique interface designed to help you visually organize your social circle. In addition, it has a built-in mirror (this is definitely a tween girl phone) and an HTML browser. Not bad for a feature phone.
