Valve Gives Boycott Leaders a Tour

A few months back, the announcement of Left4Dead 2 was met with anger and a 42,000 fan boycott of the title. Fans were ticked that Valve reneged on their promise to continue to support L4D with new content. A sequel to the game meant, in their eyes, that the user community would be split in two, and the original game left to shrivel alone on a dying vine.
Valve wasn't happy about the boycott and, according to Ars Technica, decided to fly the leaders of the boycott out to their HQ for a meet-and-greet with the development team. After a free plane flight and hotel stay, the two boycott organizers changed their tune about the zombie-shooter sequel.
This has placated some members of the boycott, but others accuse the two founders of having sold out for the price of a plane ticket and some insider coddling. Considering the fact that Valve didn't actually meet any of the group's demands, that isn't an unreasonable conclusion to jump to.
While Valve has succeeded in appeasing the leaders of the boycott, there is still a significant swell of fan anger around the sequel. Left4Dead 2 will likely meet with great success, but the controversy isn't going to end anytime soon.
