Addonics has announced a new hardware port multiplier that comes in two styles. Both styles of the device allow users to connect up to five SATA drives to any single SATA port. The device is ideal for users who want to run multiple hard drives or start a RAID volume with redundancy.
The port multiplier can connect to five SATA optical drives as well for copying data at the same time. The device is available in a system version that has all the hardware on a card that slips into an expansion port.
The device is also available in an enclosure version to fit into Addonics storage tower and storage rack enclosures. The enclosure version will also fit inside many SCSI-1 enclosures. List price for either version of the system is $99.
