Portable Devices

With the new Microsoft Zune HD PMP now officially available, it will only be a matter of time until someone drops one and breaks it. The team at RapidRepair has already torn their new Zune HD down to show us what is inside.

Inside the attractive aluminum case, the device has surprisingly few parts, most of which are replaceable in case you drop the device. Obviously, if you choose to tear your own Zune down you will void the warranty. Inside the case are three cables for the digitizer, OLED screen, and the home button.

Two Toshiba flash memory chips are inside for the 32GB version and the NVIDIA Tegra APX2600-HM-A3 media processor can be seen. The Tegra runs at 600MHz. The Wi-Fi chipset is the Atheros AR6002. The Zune HD is a cool gadget, I almost hate to see it torn down. I wonder if the thing still worked after it was reassembled.
