Apple unveiled the new faster and cheaper iPod touch 3G about two weeks ago. Amazon is selling the iPod touch 32GB for $20 less and than the Apple store and ships it for free of course.
This sales price helped catapult the new iPod touch 32GB to the #2 spot on the Bestsellers in Electronics list.
Only the new 6-inch Kindle sells better. The Kindle owns this spot, but Amazon also does everything to promote it. The Amazon homepage has had a huge placement for the Kindle for the longest time.
Still, it makes me wonder a bit why the iPod touch is not overtaking the Kindle.
In the #3 spot is also a Kindle. The 9.7-inch Kindle DX.
Back to the new iPod touch. Since Apple still charges $299, I assume most people buy the iPod touch on Amazon, since it is really saving some money. The iPod touch 16GB is also on sale, but you only save $10.
This sales price of the iPod touch also stifles Zune HD sales on Amazon in my opinion. The Zune HD ranks #11 with a price of $289.97.
Also interesting is that the new iPod nano with camera does not seem to be a hot seller; at least not on Amazon. The new iPod nano ranks #32, despite a $10 price cut.
