Russian Oligarch Roman Abramovich has installed a laser based anti-paparazzi shield on his new record breaking mega yacht - the Eclipse.
The exact size of the Eclipse is not known yet, but it is supposed to be the largest private yacht of all time. Besides tons of high tech features the anti-paparazzi shield is possibly the most unique one.
The Times reports that infrared lasers detect the electronic light sensors in nearby cameras (CCDs). When the anti-paparazzi shield detects a camera it sends a light beam at the camera, making it impossible to take a photo.
I assume we will see if the system works if there are no photos of parties on the Eclipse yacht appearing in magazines.
Mr. Abramovich will receive his new Eclipse yacht just before Christmas from the German makers Blohm + Voss.
