It's 10 times as fast, consumes far less power, and is totally backwards compatible. What's not to love about USB 3.0? The new technology debuted this week in several different products and concepts at the IDF show. Some of these products (SuperSpeed USB hard drives) are even angled to hit stores before the year is out. And now, Engadget has posted a video of the new technology in action.

The video, which comes from the IDF show, has the USB 3.0 HD finishing a 500 MB transfer in a little over 4 seconds. Next to it is a USB 2.0 HD, which takes a little under 40 seconds. From this video alone it's pretty obvious that USB 3.0 hard drives are going to change the way we transfer and store media. No longer will making back-ups be a ridiculously long and tedious process!

Engadget also managed to grab a look at the Point Grey HD camera prototype. This bad boy is supposedly able to stream uncompressed 1080p video over USB 3.0. Are you drooling yet? If not, we've got a picture of the Point Grey at the head of the article, and news that this product is apparently nearing completion. Patience, friends, for all things will come in time.
