Okay, so Alienware computers are a little silly. You pay a hefty premium for the name, and another big chunk of change for their nifty case designs. None of that stops them from being some pretty sweet machines with some high-high end specs. The new Alienware Aurora/Aurora ALX and Area-51/Area-51 ALX desktops reach new heights of ridiculous (and awesome).

First up, the Aurora and Aurora ALX. Both of these new desktops have Intel Core i7 processors, with Extreme Edition optional. The processors are 3.6 GHz and have dual 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics cards and up to 24 GB of DDR3 1333 MHz memory, or 12 GB of DDR3 1600 MHz memory. They can also have up to 2 TB of HD storage. Prices start at $1299 and go up from there.

The Alienware Area-51 and Area 51 ALX both pack i7s with 3.86 GHz of power behind them and dual GeForce GTX 295 graphics cards. They can have up to 12 GB of DDR3 memory at 1333 MHz or 1600 MHz, plus up to six cable-free hard drive bays that can handle 7200 RPM or 10,000 RPM drives, SSDs, and RAID 0, 1, and 10 configurations. Prices on these start at $1999. Ouch.

Alienware also announced the M15x 15" gaming laptop. This little notebook has a Core i7 processor with a 1 GB Nvidia GeForce 260M GPU and as much as 8 GB DDR3 1333 MHz memory. Prices for this gaming rig start at $1499. That's an awful lot of power in such a small package. Anyone thinking of breaking the bank for the sake of first-adopter bragging rights?
