Yesterday we brought you our first impressions of the new Samsung SCH-W880 camera phone. In most smartphones you see a camera built into the back of a phone. With the 880, the phone is actually stuck onto the back of a fully functional camera. Samsung Hub states that the 880 will have its official release early next month, when it will come to stores all across Korea.
We don't yet know when this camera-phone will hit American shores, but the international version (the M8920) will come with WiFi and GPS. Other then that this phone has a 3.3" WVGA AMOLED display, a 12 MP camera with optical zoom, digital zoom, 720p video recording at 30 fps, and a Xenon flash. It'll have Bluetooth 2.0, 3 GB of internal memory, and a 32 GB microSD card slot. The battery will be 1,100 mAh and the 880 features a TouchWiz UI.
No information on price or an exact release date is available as of this article. That should all be leaking out soon enough, as this phone is only a few days away from its (Korean) release. I was a bit ambivalent about the 880 when I first read about it, it looked too clunky and oversized to make a decent smartphone. I'm starting to change my mind though. The specs look altogether solid, and every in-use photo I see makes the 880 look a little more practical. Anyone else looking forward to this thing's U.S. release?
