Some products manage to surprise me with their very existence. Take the Swordfish Net 102, manufactured by Haleron, for instance. On the outside, it looks like a fairly normal netbook. It has a design obviously inspired by the Eee PC, 2 GB of RAM, Bluetooth 2.0, built-in 3G, a 1.3 MP webcam, a 10.2" display, and a 160 GB HD. Oh, and it also has two Atom 270 1.6 GHz processors.
No, it doesn't have a dual-core processor; it just has dual processors. (Via Engadget) That sounds pretty cool, and I'm certain the Net 102 is a fantastically fast netbook, but I can't imagine it working very well.
I've never used the product myself, but I do know that two processors are going to draw a whole lot of power to keep running. This baby only has a 3 cell battery, normally good for about 3-4 hours of active life. With two cores running, you take that down to 1, maybe 2 hours of good use time. Extra speed is nice, but not at the expense of that much battery life. Netbooks should be portable, not constantly tethered to an electric socket.
