The Motorola Droid (aka Sholes/Tao) is one of the most highly anticipated smartphones of the year. It's the first real powerhouse smartphone to run the open source OS, and it gives Android a chance to show off on a platform every bit as impressive as the iPhone 3GS. With a 600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, a 3.7" screen, a 5 megapixel camera and Android 2.0, the Droid is one beast of a smartphone.
And, if these new rumors from PhoneDog (via Gizmodo) are true, the Droid is an even more powerful machine than previously believed. Apparently Moto's new flagship mobile packs a second, dedicated 430 MHz Image Signal Processor, as well as a PowerVR SGX 530 GPU.
If true, these rumors make the Droid an even more attractive proposition for smartphone owners. Compared to the very limited G1 especially, the Droid shines. This new mobile is definitely the best argument I've seen for the Verizon carrier in quite a while.
