Immersion Corporation announced that it is now offering developers of Maemo used by Nokia on some of its high-end smartphones like the N900 access to its haptics technology. The offer will allow the developers to integrate touch feedback into applications for the N900.
The technology allows the user to get feedback with vibration and other feedback types when a button on the screen is pressed. Immersion claims that its technology makes for better accuracy and brings more fun and depth to ringtones, videos, and games.
To show how well the Immersion tech can be integrated into games, a demo version of Bounce is available using Immersion feedback. TouchSense for Maemo is currently in beta and will be in full production by the end of the year.
