Barnes & Noble announced their interesting new eBook reader dubbed nook and made it available for pre-order.
The nook makes the Amazon Kindle look a bit dated with its 2nd color display and overall good styling.
On top of that nook runs Android and can use Wifi in addition to the 3G AT&T network.
Features of nook include 6-inch E-ink Vizplex ePaper display, 3.5 inch color touchscreen, 2GB memory, MicroSD card slot, and replaceable battery.
nook supports EPUB, PDF, MP3 and photo formats.
The measurements of nook are 7.7x4.9x0.5 inches and the weight is 11.2 ounces.
B&N also expanded their eBook store and says that they now have over 1 million titles available making it the largest eBook store.
An interesting new feature available on nook in is digital lending. That is right, you can lend an eBook to a friend for 14 days without charge (not all eBooks qualify).
nook, the Barnes & Noble eBook reader, will begin shipping at the end of November with a price of $259 (Same price as Amazon Kindle). You can pre-order nook today on the B&N site.
B&N is challenging the Amazon Kindle. Amazon has the advantage that Kindle has already been in the wild for a long time and has a sizable user base. Additionally their recent move to go international is a big advantage. As far as I know B&N is only active in the United States, Amazon operates world-wide.
