If you're in Sweden or Norway, 4G wireless Internet is about to come to you, courtesy of Samsung and TeliaSonera. 4G mobile Internet is a very hot service right now, with only a few states in the U.S. even offering it. TeliaSonera, a telecommunication provider in Eurasia, is very much ahead of the curve here.
And so is Samsung. According to their press release (which should always be taken with a grain of salt) the 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) devices that TeliaSonera contracted them to create will be the first of their kind. These LTEs are basically little USB 4G modems. The service will launch next year in Sweden and Norway, well ahead of the rest of the world.
It's kind of a bummer not being the first country to receive full 4G access, but at least this way Samsung will have a chance to iron all of the kinks out of their design. At least that's what I'm telling myself now in order to keep from getting too jealous of my Nordic friends.
