With many state and local governments adding new hands free laws to their books it might seem like 2009 would be a banner year for makers of Bluetooth headsets. Apparently, it is not such a great year for the industry according to Strategy Analytics.
The analytics firm reports that shipments of Bluetooth headsets are down 28% for the year so far. Shipments reached 19.2 million units in 2008 but will decline to 13.9 million by the end of 2009.
Some of the decline is thanks to the poor economy according to the research firm. Demand for stereo headsets is described as more robust though. Maybe with the economy coming back a bit things will pick up.
