Charge Anywhere has announced the first secure mobile payment application for the Android platform. The payment solution and payment gateway service Charge Anywhere for Android is now available. Android mobile phones can now be used as payment acceptance devices and the app is available through the Android Market.

The app has a touch screen interface and allows merchants to quickly accept credit and debit card transactions at the point of sale via the smartphone. The software also supports an optional Bluetooth printer for printing receipts.

"A suite of APIs allows Independent Software Developers the opportunity to extend their applications and services with fully PCI compliant, brandable mobile card payment solutions," said John Coloe, VP of Corporate Development at CHARGE Anywhere.
