3D movies have grown very popular and much more common in the past few years than they have ever been with many new feature films hitting the theater in 3D glory. 3D is quickly coming to our homes as well with several 3D TVs being unveiled recently and more on the way.
The 3D@Home consortium has released the requirements for 3D at home. The new documents that were released are to outline the requirements manufacturers need to follow to ensure that products are compatible.
Three documents were released including ST2-01 3D Digital Interface Requirements, ST4-03 3D Active Shutter Glasses Database, and ST4-04 3D Passive Glasses Database. The documents were requested by the CEA working groups, as they get ready to set standards for 3D in homes. This means we are one step closer to real 3D movies at home.
