Atari and Cryptic have announced that the Star Trek Online game is set to launch on February 2, 2010.The game is now accepting applications for the closed beta. European Trekkies will have to wait until February 5th to get the game.

The game is described as the first of its kind MMORPG game and will offer space and ground play for gamers. The game is set in 2049 and continues the story from the latest film installment. Players get the chance to become a high-ranking Starfleet officer.

Missions in the game will take players across space, to exotic planets, and inside other starships. The game promises total customization with ships players command being customizable from color to construction and anyone can create their own species in the game and customize their uniforms.
