When Apple launched the new iMac line it also included Core i7 and Core i5 CPU options. The Core i7 iMac did not ship right away. Now the first lucky people have gotten their hands on a Core i7 iMac and of course had nothing better todo than to run benchmark apps on it.
MacRumors highlights a benchmark comparison from Timon-Royer showing that the Core i7 iMac is quite a lot faster than the Core i5 model on Geekbench 2.
You pay at least $2,199 for a Core i7 iMac on the Apple Store. The Core i5 is only $200 less. So if you go for the high-end iMac go Core i7 it is well worth it. I am still in love with the new 27-inch Core i7 iMac and I am still saving money for it.
