While early rumors indicated that both AT&T and T-Mobile would be carrying this sweet smartphone, that now appears untrue. Phandroid reports that, at a press event in Sweden, Ericsson gave out some more details on the phone. Most importantly, they confirmed that the UMTS HSPA 900/1700 band will not be available for phones sold in the U.S.

Since the 1700 band is what T-Mo uses, that makes the X10 compatible with just AT&T. If that alone isn't painful enough, it sounds like the X10 won't even pack Google Navigator. The official website states that it will use Wisepilot turn-by-turn navigation. We know the new Xperia isn't launching with 2.0...could this mean that it won't be getting Google Nav even when the update hits? Or will users have the option of choosing either?

There is some positive news on the X10 though. Apparently the phone is set to have a "video light" feature gives you more light while you're taking video by turning the flash on. There are also rumors that the X10 will have gesture-based controls, allowing you to swipe your hand over the camera to silence it.

Sony Ericsson's first Android phone is still a lot to be excited about. A Snapdragon processor and 8.1 MP camera aren't anything to scoff at. Hearing that it's going to be AT&T exclusive definitely lets a little wind out of the sails though. How this thing is going to perform on launch day, whenever that comes, is anyone's guess.
