The crazy successful Furby toy is coming back this year evolved and bigger.

I still remember 1998 when the original Furby hit the market. The talking furballs were totally hard to get and a bidding frenzy on eBay was the result. Hasbro was pushing this with special edition Furbies and limited availability before Christmas. We still got some and brought them as Christmas presents to Europe. Funny enough after all these years those Furbies are all still alive and are a hit with young kids. Hasbro apparently sold 40 million Furby toys globally.

The new evolved Furby that will be introduced this fall by Tiger Electronics (a Hasbro Inc. Company) will feature a wide range of emotions and motions, advanced voice recognition, enhanced communication between kids and other Furby toys, and a "bilingual" vocabulary of "Furbish" and English. In fact, the Furby creature has six times the memory of the original.
EMOTO-TRONICS allows the Furby to react based on the interaction with it. Furby can speak, dance, sing, tell jokes, play games and express their moods in a variety of ways. A fully flexible beak, expressive eyes, and movable ears and eyebrows make it possible for the Furby to smile, laugh, frown and also produce an awe-filled gasp.

The Furby toy will be released worldwide in the fall of 2005 and will be available in white, black and white, gray and pink, and brown and pink. The approximate retail price will be $39.99. Lets see if they will be actually available for this price or are again in so hot demand that double the price becomes a good deal.
More details in Hasbro press-release.

Current Furby toys are still available on eBay starting at about $5.
