I'm an early adopter. It's in my blood; my father bought a LaserDisc player back when it was still marketed as Discovision. Somewhere in my closet is a dinky little MP3 player that I bought entirely because it had an OLED screen. Never mind that the screen was about a quarter-inch in size and only displayed black-and-white. True to form, as soon as I heard about Google's Android OS I had to have a G1, the only Android phone available when I bought it.
The price we pay for early adoption is early obsolescence. When the Google Navigator launched for Android 2.0, we G1 owners thought we'd have to wait months for Android 2.0 to launch on our dinky old phones. Today, however, Google's surprised all of us with an early Christmas gift. Google Navigator has launched for Android 1.6 and can now be downloaded as part of Google Maps for free from the App Market.
Now all Android users can enjoy the perks of free turn-by-turn voice navigation. No more bulky, slow Garmins or confusing roadmaps for us! No more holding our phone in one hand and trying to keep an eye on the map while we do our best to not murder pedestrians! Today, we become truly mobile.
