OCZ has announced that it has teamed up with Symwave to develop what the pair is calling the smallest and highest performance USB 3.0 external storage device that also uses the smallest amount of power. The two are mum on details of the device, but say they will be unveiled the storage solution at CES 2010 set to kick off in January.

Considering that OCZ doesn’t make hard drives, but does have a full line of SSD products it is safe to assume that the external storage solution will be SSD-based. My money says that the two are cramming one of those new Colossus 1TB SSDs into a USB 3.0 enclosure.
