Latest Microsoft Updates Are Killing Computers

Once again, Microsoft gives the other side a reason to brag. While PC owners might get to play more games and customize their hardware, Mac owners rarely have to deal with Apple breaking their Macs by way of faulty update. PC World reports that Microsoft recently sent out a security patch that altered the registry keys. Several installed applications appear to be unaware of these changes, which causes a Black Screen of Death when they are selected.
Security programs have been especially effected by this error. Some users report being forced to reinstall their entire OS in order to fix it. Prevx, a UK security company, has released some software that should fix the registry issue. Users who encounter this issue are advised to download the fix rather than try to alter the registry themselves.
Microsoft has yet to comment on the mess they created. Big props to Prevx for stepping up and releasing a free fix for the whole community. You guys are alright.
