Good Technology has just announced the availability of new iPhone and Android applications. These apps provide enterprise-class email support and security. Android particularly has lacked any sort of secure enterprise support for a while now. Good is looking to challenge RIM and WinMo's stranglehold on enterprise device management by turning iPhone and Android smartphones into viable choices for corporations.
A survey commissioned by GT showed that nearly 80% of IT directors in the US and UK have noticed increased demand from their employees to support a wider base of mobile devices. Unfortunately, letting employees use their own mobiles for sensitive work is not an option for many businesses. The iPhone and Android smartphones just don't have the level of security that big business requires.
Good Technology is working to change all of that now. They provide email, calendar, and contacts through one, secure application. Enterprise data will be heavily encrypted and stored separately from private data. If these new clients work as well as Good says they do, we could be looking at the end of the work-cell phone/private-cell phone divide.
To learn more, or to download Good's client, check out the Get Good website. Or you can just download Good's app from the iTunes App Store or Android App Market.Posted on Mon, 7 Dec 2009 13:12:53 CST | by Robert Evans
