Nokia announces the Nokia 1110 and Nokia 1600, affordable and easy-to-use mobile phones.
Nokia targets with the new simple phones developing countries. Nokia titles its strategy with "The Road to Three Billion Subscribers". Well sounds like a great plan.
The Nokia 1110 (photo below) has an inverted black and white display, supposedly ideal for sunny conditions. The Nokia 1600 (photo left) has a 65,536 color display. Besides standard features the new Nokia phones have a speaking Clock with Alarm, which announces the time in the user's local language.
Weighing 80 grams, the Nokia 1110 has a talk time of up to over 5 hours and a standby time of up to 380 hours. The estimated retail price, before subsidies or taxes, is expected to be 65 euros.
