Fujitsu announces world's first film substrate-based bendable color electronic paper with an image memory function.
This is pretty cool. This epaper can continue to display what has been programmed without power. This can have endless implications for future products.
The thin and flexible electronic paper uses very low power to change screen images, thereby making it ideal for displaying information or advertisements in public areas as a type of new electronic media that can be handled as easily as paper.
The new electronic paper is constructed of three displaying layers - red, blue, and green.
Fujitsu is targeting commercialization within fiscal year 2006.
More details in this Fujitsu press-release.
Several companies work on electronic paper. We reported about the Philips e-paper, the Toppan Hi-Res Electronic Paper and Hitachi's electronic paper developments.
