Sony wants to enter the SLR (Single Lens Reflex) digital camera market next year.

Sony announced to develop together with Konica Minolta SLR digital cameras with exchangeable lenses. For Sony this will be the first SLR camera. Konica Minolta is of course already a player in this field. See their recent announcement of a entry-level SLR camera.
Nikkei.Net reports in that context that the SLR digital camera market is dominated by Canon and Nikon with a believed 90% market share.
