BenQ and Mediabolic announce a line of high definition LCD TVs with built-in network media player capabilities.
These new BenQ LCD TVs include software from Mediabolic that can browse data, such as music, photo, and video files stored on a PC or server located on the consumer's home network. The BenQ Network LCD TVs also allow users to access premium content applications available either on a PC or the Internet.
The new BenQ family of Network LCD Televisions is designed as a turnkey OEM solution for TV and consumer electronics manufacturers and includes 11 models ranging from 14" to 46".
The BenQ Network TVs are powered by the Philips Nexperia PNX1502 media processor.
The BenQ family of Network LCD TVs is available immediately for OEM customers, meaning they are not on sale yet and might be sold under different brands.
More details in this Mediabolic press-release.
So this could be an interesting technology trend, removing the media server setop box and integrate it into the TV.
