Update 10/07/05:
Oakley THUMP 2 officially announced.
Engadget broke the news yesterday that Oakley is working on a new version of its MP3 sunglasses called Thump. I contacted my connections at Oakley to get some more insight. I did not really get much more information as Engadget already had published. At least it confirms that new THUMP mp3 glasses are indeed coming.
I reviewed the original Oakley Thump glasses a while ago. The verdict about the Thump glasses was that they work great, but the style and the price are not for everybody.
It looks like the new Oakley Thump 2.0 is about to fix these two issues.
The Thump 2.0 will have the style of the Oakley GASCAN sunglasses (photo) and is aimed at a youthful customer base that defines its life style with individual sports, music and fashion.
The Thump 2.0 architecture includes a new speaker boom assembly capable of accommodating virtually all ear/cranial geometries, i.e. maximizing range of fit.
Additionally the Oakley THUMP 2.0 will likely offer more memory options.
The product is expected to release during the fourth quarter of 2005.
The Oakley THUMP 2.0 will exist concurrently with the current THUMP 1.0 and THUMP 1.5.
