Gacha Gacha? Gacha Gacha are tiny toys sold through vending machines in Japan. Nikkei (Subscription) reports that the Gacha Gacha market is growing quite a bit.
Apparently the Gacha Gacha market was 33 billion yen in 2004. Bandai holds a 65% of the Gacha Gacha market and has 340,000 vending machines deployed. The appeal of Gacha Gacha has spread to adults giving the market a nice boost.
Those toys in a plastic bubble are definitely nothing new. I remember those kind
of vending machines being available in Europe since decades.
The Japanese Keychain Mini Plants I would say are a Japanese born trend.
