Sony announces two new hard-drive Network Walkman, the NW-A3000 and the NW-A1000.
The Sony Walkman NW-A3000 has a 20GB hard-drive and the NW-A1000 features a smaller 6GB HDD.
Both new Sony Walkman are made from a translucent material. The NW-A3000 comes in violet and silver, the NW-A1000 in violet, silver, pink and blue. The headphones are color coordinated. The new Walkman feature a luminescent Organic EL.
The new HDD Sony Walkman's are a very nice extension of the new Sony translucent look that the company introduced with the NW-E400 and NW-E500 series Flash Players.
Sony found ways to enhance the shuffle function with My Favorite Shuffle, where the device automatically selects the most listened to 100 songs and plays them at random.
The Time Machine Shuffle, which function randomly selects a year and plays all of the songs from that particular year that are currently held on the device.
The new Sony Walkman comes in October. The 6GB will sell for around $300 and the 20GB model for $370 (converted from European prices, I guess Sony will later today announce the NW-A3000 and NW-A1000 pricing in the United States as well.
I have to say the new Sony A series looks great. It has the potential to be an alternative to the Apple iPod players.
